I bought this set to use with the dock on a new laptop - the dock covers the laptop's keyboard and touchpad so I need separate keyboard and mouse. I love the keyboard of this set. It's comfortable, has lots of nice shortcut keys, and the scaling capability for my very high resolution laptop screen is amazing. Some of my frustration with the mouse may simply be the result of my laptop novice status. First of all, however, the software disc that came with this set will not automatically or otherwise play on my disc. All other CDs/DVDs work perfectly. Not a big deal I thought since the Microsoft website offered software for download. The connection to the mouse software was also interrupted. I tried installing a previous version. Little did I know that installing mouse software on a laptop usually requires disabling the touchpad permanently. It was NOT my intention to do this. It works for me currently where the touchpad has full functionality and this mouse works EXCEPT for side scrolling. I'm more frustrated by computer companies who haven't found a way to install 3rd party mouse drivers and keep the touchpads working, but I seem to have found a workaround. However, I didn't feel like it was the best hardware experience. I'm really unhappy that the software wasn't available, although I probably wouldn't install it anyway. Just my 2 cents!
