Worth buying

This board may look like cheap Styrofoam board, but it does a lot better for stretching watercolor paper. I tried cheap styrofoam and it warped a lot. This board warps but not as much as wood. The warping is very small. I used it to stretch Arches 140# cold press paper and to use a heavy duty stapler. I used my leftover 1/2" staples, but 3/8" would probably be a better choice since the 1/2" staples will pierce the other side of the board. One of the great advantages of this board is that it is light and easy to transport - the wood is quite heavy. Again, I used paper tape - only successful in combination with staples. To get the tape off the board I soaked the tape in a damp sponge and it came off pretty well. I decided on the second one after using my first one on five images so I can work on two images at the same time. I think it's a worthwhile purchase.

Pros
  • PERFECT FOR WATERCOLORS: This reusable drawing board is the perfect accessory for any watercolourist. This durable 1/2" thick foam board has a hard, shell-like surface on both sides, providing a stable surface for stretching watercolor paper.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
