I bought this to use on some 1/8 inch leather belts. I found the punch to be such soft metal that after only 3 holes I had to rotate it and reshape and sharpen the tip. Then about every 2 beats. I used a cutting board as a base (nylon). I managed to punch 6 good holes but then the rivets wouldn't hold together. They break apart easily. I ended up smearing the end of the rivet with superglue before connecting it. The instructions say to use a thin cloth. They try to rivet together. Furthermore, something you make is purely a piece of craftsmanship. If you want good leather tools, you MUST spend more and get real quality.
