Do not overtighten the recoil pad.
These are spacers, what can I say, except that they do what they are supposed to do. However, I will say that the recoil pad is a bit flimsy and feels flimsy, so don't over-tighten. You certainly don't want to over-tighten any of the carbon parts on your bike, but that's especially true with this stem cover. I actually expect the lid to break at some point, so I'll probably replace it before that happens.
