Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great quality stuff, not much is enough

I use just under half the recommended dosage per bottle on all Seachem farms (alternating days between wake and bloom) every day. Also use the online CO2 calculator and use just below the 5am to 5pm dose of CO2 in the tank. Then I air the stone at night. Slightly under-feeding fish once or twice a day is recommended. I'm not on vacation. 2/3 water changes and vacuuming every 10 days. The perfect amount and the very slow minimum allowable growth of algae on the walls to be barely noticeable. I made my own HOB Powerfilter and pre-filter using a range of materials sourced from Amazon. I only clean the sponges, not the physical carrier, and wring them out in the discarded water that comes out during the water change. Maintenance of the Aquarium 101 by a Beginner. Use as little substrate as possible to keep plants alive and make it easier to avoid snails. Clean literally everything before you put it in the tank, it's better to let it die before it goes in the tank than to start snails. Clean the algae walls with every water change. If you have snails, take out literally everything but fish and upside down fish and soak them in a low bleach to water bath ratio for about 20 minutes. This is the only way to kill literally all snail pests. . Drain the water to a level sufficient for swimming and life for fish and inversions, then scrub the entire aquarium with a scraper and take out literally everything you can see. Scratch 3 more times. Wipe everything and make sure you only see fish, flips and clear water. Then wipe again. Add lots of cycle bacteria from a variety of sources you can find on Amazon including Seachem. Fill the aquarium with bleach-soaked ornamental substrate and filter media. MAKE SURE YOU SOAK PLENTY OF DECHLORATOR AND WATER FOR 20 MINUTES. None of your plants should die off completely, but they will lose and kill a large amount of their leaves and roots, but they should survive and recover if you fertilize and change the new water and speed up the cycle by adding bacteria. I sincerely hope this helps. In my first year with a fully stocked nano aquarium, I read and experimented a lot. The battle with the pest snails was epic, but I was completely free for 6 months. I win. Oh and no fish lost or upside down and the plants grew past their original height. This assumes you have never been quarantined or matched. I've also been cycling from day one, with no pre-cycle. Use 24-hour cyclic phase, full K-spectrum light for plants. It's much simpler and more efficient, and worth the slight price premium over standard bulbs. And it is fun. Also add Indian leaves and a UV filter. Filter thread = crystal clear water. Chemical filtration is completely unnecessary, we had no problems and there were no adjustments in six months, everything was clear and clean, green growth is strong, critters thrived. Electric heater with built in temperature control at 82 degrees for tropical fish and plants
