Review on πŸ”§ Efficiently Install Bushing Transmission Bearings with OrionMotorTech's Installer Tool by Deelo Sylvester

Not hardened steel. The case is not the same as in the photo.

I used this kit to help rebuild an axle. I was a bit disappointed when this kit arrived because I bought it based on the photos. At the time of writing the review, the photos of the kit showed a case made out of two plastic halves with a metal pin as a hinge. For me this was the deciding factor in buying this over another same and similar offering from another brand. When received, however, the hinge was a "live hinge", a solid thin piece of plastic that would wear out and eventually shatter the case. I don't think the metal parts are hardened steel. I used them to drive the race and the outside edges that made contact with the race (which is hardened) gave way and were crushed. I could still manage the clip but I don't think this kit will hold up. test of time. For a master who uses it once every few years, this may be normal. For anyone who works with industrial products, or for the professional auto mechanic, these things aren't going to last long. Although I doubt it was designed for this use, for driving the seals I found it useful to use a driver small enough to be held by the seal which was mounted on top of the larger driver holding the seal actually drives. The sleeve at the end of the rod was too long for a single piece (with an o-ring in the wrong place so as not to hold the drive) but too short for two pieces to be stacked on top of each other. Luckily there was enough thread on the threaded part to allow this, making it easier to hold the gasket and get it properly perpendicular to the axis of the axle.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Has some drawbacks
