but was far from bad reviews and friends saying it was terrible

This mattress has worked so well for my baby! He is in my dream bed Aden Mini. I was planning on going with the Naturapedic mini crib mattress but was sidelined due to bad reviews and friends saying it was awful. I did a lot of research on mini bed mattresses and was very happy with the purchase of this mattress as there are no toxic chemicals in it. It's light and durable and I think it's very safe for my baby. The fit in the Dream on Me cot is perfect. We use American Baby Company organic covers and sheets from Carousel Designs, they are so cute.
