I ordered Honda CRF230L for my Dual Sport. I take long trips on and off road and needed a way to charge my phone and GPS. It was easy to install and worked well for a month. My only gripe with the setup is that there is no on/off switch and this unit draws a small amount of current when not in use, which drains the battery over an extended period of time. After a month of using it multiple times a week, the charging port only occasionally charged my phone and then failed completely. I checked the output and it showed 3.01 VDC and wasn't outputting any current to my phone or GPS as the voltage was very low. I have returned the item for a replacement. The replacement has worked flawlessly so far. I will update in the future. I hope the first was a lemon. Attached is a picture of the old unit outputting low voltage, the new unit outputting the correct voltage, and the unit on the bike outputting the correct voltage and charging current for one of my devices. . Some of you may be wondering why a device only outputs 1.39A when it's rated at 3.1A. Devices (like phones, GPS, and tablets) are programmed to only draw a certain amount of current. Some phones/tablets can draw the full 3.1 amps. not my phone You can have a charger that puts out 100 amps, but if the phone only draws 2 amps, that's all it draws.
