Girapow Riveting Tool 95% of my power tools are Makita owned (36 tools) and 100% cordless (43 tools total) and are powered by the Makita battery platform (thanks to the use of battery adapters). So when I started looking for a cordless riveter the first criteria were always whether the tool works on the Makita platform, cost and of course performance. Makita makes cordless riveters, as does Milwaukee, but Makita is over $1,000 and Milwaukee runs on a 12V platform; upon registration for $325 or more. $1000 is out of my price range and I wasn't willing to invest in a tool on any other battery platform but would spend over $300 (need a kit as I don't have Milwaukee tools). While researching deals from Ryobi and Dewalt (two brands that I have battery adapters to use my Makita batteries with), I came across a review by Girapow on YouTube and referenced the review (Thanks, Roddy Paul Wilmot ). , who mentioned here that this tool is powered by the Makita platform. At $150 and since it offers free returns, there was no risk in buying Girapow and trying it out. a power tool and an old-fashioned hand riveter. Girapov's weight will immediately catch your attention. It's heavy at the top and front, [a slight drawdown (and why I used a 5Ah battery in the video to withstand the weight and allow the tool to stand upright)] is that the tool doesn't stand alone or even with can a 2ah battery. And while I'm not tired of holding it in my hands, you might get a little tired after working with just this tool all day. I also think the tool is solid and I was impressed with the tool case (I won't be using it but it's nice). The instructions didn't convince me (I can't really figure out what the selector switch does, it seems to work automatically) But most importantly, does this riveter work? If you've ever set any number of rivets by hand, you know how tedious and inaccurate it can be as you need both hands to operate a hand tool. This simplifies the assembly of rivets. Set the correct size tip (quick tip, slightly loosen the nose holding the jaws when installing a different size tip) for your rivet, place the rivet in the hole and pull the trigger. I installed about 600 rivets with no problems and the 5Ah battery didn't die in a day's work. Another tip, and it's in the instructions, don't release the trigger until the rivet is in place. Doing this will also reset the cycle without completing the rivet installation. Without using what Makita or Milwaukee has to offer, it's impossible to say that this tool is inferior in any way. Some might complain that there is no cup for the Fangdorn, for me it's not a big problem. What I can say is that this tool worked exactly as I expected and needed. It also increases my production time by a factor of 10, the quality of my rivets grows exponentially, and that's 40% the cost of Milwaukee and just over 10% the cost of Makita. Even if you don't use the Makita platform, you get a 2Ah battery and charge for less than $150. The performance coupled with the price makes this tool an unbeatable tool for anyone setting rivets on a regular basis in my opinion.
