Save yourself a lot of money. Replace them at the first sign of wear.
Disassembling the hose will be your biggest problem (but follow the instructions) and you'll be amazed at how easy it is to replace this seal. Just keeping this sealant in good condition will literally double the life of your brush. As soon as the water gets in, you look for a replacement. Be sure to blow out the internals with compressed air and let them dry before reassembling.
