I hooked this up to a high quality Denon receiver because the receiver doesn't have aptX and the music only sounds so-so via Bluetooth directly on the receiver. Plugging in the Auris was a breeze and listening to music at low volume was fine, but you could hear all sorts of static noise when turning it on. I swapped out the cables, tried repositioning the receiver, and did all the usual tricks, but still got noticeable noise (hissing plus occasional "pops"). According to the manual, it's not a device, it's a bad Bluetooth signal or external interference. I solved this problem with a Toslink optical cable. With a Toslink cable there is no interference at all, so it's not a Bluetooth signal as it will be there anyway. Now I'm very happy with the sound quality, but not everyone will be able to use a Toslink cable. I really believe this device is worth the money and now I'm happy with the quality. If there were no optics, I would return the device.
