Review on Gibraltar Mailboxes Universal Mounting PLMB0060 by Jeremy Gulledge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solves problems and withstands abuse and normal wear and tear

: Last autumn someone came in at night and smashed my plastic mailbox in the Gibraltar countryside with a bat. In fact, this someone was walking up and down the street beating many mailboxes in the country with a bat. When I reinstalled the same box, the door of which cracked slightly, I used one of those plastic mounting plates (I bought 6) (btw, these plates come with a small bag full of mounting hardware - various screws and a couple of hex nuts, plus page full of drawings who suggest how to attach your mailbox and this sign to the post of your choice). Recently (February) I rescued the same mailbox and mounting plate from 3 feet of snow after a snowplow got too close and lifted the mailbox, plate and mounting screws as a unit right out of the 4x4 post. We were going to use the same mailbox, mounting plate and heavy duty brackets again held together with a couple of small shelf brackets, but we've moved. Now the mailbox is a flower pot on the balcony, and I'm keeping the mounting plate as a symbol of American-made durability (What do I do with the remaining plates since I bought 6? Well, I'm planning on building a desk.) Here it is it. The mounting plate solves many problems. Glad I used this plate and if it wobbles like some say in these reviews (not mine) here's something to consider: Drivers who come across a rural mailbox sometimes blame the stubborn mailbox for the dents on their cars. Strange driving style. I keep this record and recommend it to others.
