Review on 🌩️ APC Ethernet Surge Protector for 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet lines with ProtectNet (PNET1GB) by Gregory Braddock

I've always wondered if this item really does what it's supposed to do. Some of the reviews were not favorable and some were positive. Now I have real experience with this surge protector. My signal is routed to a modem connected to an old Asus router that I used as a WiFi hotspot. This Asus router was connected to an expensive commercial Cisco router using an Ethernet cable. I parked an APC surge protector on the end of this Ethernet cable and then connected the other end of the APC to my commercial router's WAN. It sat there for quite a while and I had no idea if it would actually work. Sometime last week the coax cable going to my house experienced a spike of sorts (probably lightning) going down the line to the modem, then through the ethernet cable connected to the Asus router, through the outgoing ethernet cable that was connected to the APC. Overvoltage protection. This surge manifested itself in the following ways: the connectors on the external coaxial cable burned out, as did my internal coaxial cable leading into the alcove where my equipment is installed. He then connected the modem (which is owned by the ISP, so no big deal) to an Asus router using an ethernet cable (which was also blown). Then he fried an Asus router and laid down an Ethernet cable with an APC surge protector on the end that connected to a commercial router. Bottom line, a lightning strike destroyed everything (including the ethernet cables) right down to the APC surge protector. It protected this router as well as my expensive CAT-6 cables throughout the house. In other words, APC's surge protectors DID THE JOB.
