Review on Video card MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER VENTUS OC, OEM by Mateusz Zjc ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A really necessary purchase, glad I found this product.

I can’t compare with other cards, before that there were only gaming laptops. System config: Ryzen 5 3600, B350 motherboard, RAM 2x8Gb 3200. Choice among MSI RXT 2060 Super. VENTUS OC is a low-midrange modification from the MSI RXT 2060 Super series. Marked "OC" (OverClocked) is the version of the card that comes with a factory overclocked preset, i. E. under load, it automatically gives increased frequencies of the chip and memory, if required. Below is basic information about product levels using MSI as an example: - Low end: Aero, Ventus GP/XS, ITX (base cooling and layout) - Low-Mid: Ventus (OC) (standard cooling system and layout) - Midrange: Gaming (X)/(Z), Armor (good cooling and layout) - High-Mid: Gaming (X) Trio, Lightning X, Duke (great layout, top cooling) - High end: Sea Hawk (X), Lightning Z (great layout, water or hybrid cooling) Hint: For other cards, look up the table for: "linus tech tips graphics card tier list" It is clear that an all-copper heatsink or tubes + a top quiet cooler will cost extra money, hence the difference of 2-6 thousand between cards on the same chip. In my case, greed and the promise of overclocking out of the box won out, so I took Ventus OC for $410. Appearance, installation. Installation did not cause problems (see photos 1 and 2). Looks OK, ordinary plastic, no backlight (a plus for me). Cooling is implemented through 4 heat pipes + base plate + 2 turntables. Only the bases of the tubes are copper, the rest is aluminum (see photo 3). Okay, tests. Without load (see photo 4): the card is cold 28'C, coolers 1300 rpm, complete silence. After playing Witcher 3 1440p Ultra for 5 hours (see photo 5): GPU 1095 MHz, temp 65'C, coolers 2100 rpm, rustling, but not annoying. Silence lovers - in MSI Afterburner, set the turntables to 55-60% and you will never hear the card. Also, do not forget about installing quiet powerful coolers 2x140mm for air capture + 1x120mm for output in the PC case, this will slow down the CPU / GPU.

Pros
  • - Optimal value for money for the base RTX 2060 Super ($410) - OC version, out of the box gives up to 2 GHz GPU in boost mode - Native MSI Afterburner software for GPU tuning and monitoring - All modern games on ultra settings in 1440p60 without problems -RTX - $80 to your Steam account as a gift (yesterday they sent it, everything is fair) - Subscription to Adobe premiere rush & Adobe spark as a gift
Cons
  • Nothing to complain about in this price range.
