I received one of these as a birthday present. I stopped swimming due to shoulder pain and haven't been able to use it for over a year. I recently got back into swimming and decided to give it a try. Luckily, my husband suggested that I submerge it in a bowl of water before trusting him with my device. It leaked immediately and then the entire compartment detached from the armband. It was as if the glue holding the case to the tape had crumbled. I realize I haven't used it in over a year but I expected it to last more than a year for the money I spent. It was kept in a cupboard in our kitchen so it wasn't exposed to extreme temperature changes or direct sunlight. I emailed the company a week ago hoping they could replace it but got no response.
