This is one of those Mac beauty products that solves a unique Mac problem. For some people it's okay to have USB and a card reader on the back where they're rarely used. It used to annoy me a lot because as a developer I'm constantly plugging and unplugging things. This product is a small USB hub with a thumbscrew that fits into the vent at the bottom and brings those ports to the front. With so many devices supporting USB-C these days, having a USB-C port on the front is very convenient for me. Fits my 2012 iMac perfectly. You have to give the hub some care as it can detach from the frame, but it's only natural to reach back to add support if you're connecting something anyway. The iMac just isn't heavy enough to NOT need this support, even if this product is welded to the iMac. This saves me a few more cables on my desk. Now I don't have to search for that SD->uSD adapter as often. The convenience of SD and TF (Micro-SD) on the front plus USB-C was very convenient for me. We can argue that Macs should be like this, but this is a simple addition. Recommended.
