Don't let the outside fool you. They're cute little machines that look great and are inexpensive, but they deliver what they're supposed to. If they sell machines with a 6" x 4" printable area, you would expect the machine to be able to print on that area. If you are new to foil printing, you may not understand the dynamics of foil printing. For good results you need precise control of heat, holding power and pressure. with a digital controller, exposure means the contact time between the heated stamp, foil and substrate, which you will determine with a little practice. And pulling the handle applies pressure. The problem is that the pressure depends on how hard you pull the handle. the effective pressure will be variable. For lasting results you need constant pressure. When you watch demos, they always print small images. This is much easier than printing large areas that require a lot more pressure. A child in flat shoes accidentally stepped on your bare foot. You probably won't feel any pain. a small area through the stylet. However, you will find that machine builders usually create demos for printing on small areas. I have serious doubts that they can produce good print quality across the entire face of the printhead, which requires a lot more pressure than can be applied by hand. I want them to show how these machines print solid and on hard cardboard or plastic. Soft sponge substrates are always easier to foil. So keep that in mind when purchasing these machines. Work out in the gym and develop huge, muscular arms like a bodybuilder to exert enough pressure to print good quality images on a large scale.
