Review on Spigen Tough Armor [2Nd Generation] Designed For IPhone 8 Case (2017) / Designed For IPhone 7 Case (2016) - Rose Gold by Tsuyoshi Tendencies

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's the winner for me over the other two best iPhone 8 test cases

6 month update: still sturdy and looks like new after a few drops. ---- ----- -- --------------------------------------- ----------- ---- ----------------------------------- ----------- ---------- ---------- So, I just got Got my new iPhone 8 from work and wanted a slim, stylish, quality case asap. I've tried the Otterbox type in the past, but as well as they're protected, they're ugly, too bulky, blocky, and goofy for such a fancy new phone in my opinion. Anyway, after searching Revain for an hour or two and looking at the reviews (1-2 star ratings at least), I decided to pick the top three contenders to compare side-by-side. These included Spigen Tough Armor, Caseology. Parallax Caseology Series Parallax Series iPhone 7 / 8 Case with Slim Protective Design for Apple iPhone 7 (2016) / iPhone 8 (2017) - Black / Dark Blue and Nicexx Case with Kickstand. Nicexx [Update 2018] iPhone 8 Case/iPhone 7 Case with Kickstand and Reinforced Drop Protection [8ft. Drop Tested] Shockproof for Apple iPhone 8 (2017) / iPhone 7 (2016) - (Black) In the end, I settled on Spigen's tough armor. It has a stylish modern design, metal back panel, nice thick protective corners with a raised screen bezel, metal kickstand and stylish flush buttons. Overall, it feels good in the hand and has a great mix of soft and hard materials. The build feels solid and the Apple cutout on the back looks great! The second best IMO is the Caseology Parallax range. It felt good, semi-soft materials with a really nice modern rear design, but overall slightly thinner protection than the Spigen around the corners and edges of the screen. It lacks a kickstand, which wasn't a big deal, but again, I prefer the square design and flush with the Spigen buttons. The Nicexx case with kickstand took last place for me. Not sure how it got 100% 5 star ratings but there is definitely something suspicious there. It feels cheap in every way, there isn't much protection around the corners or for the screen, and the kickstand isn't flush on the back so the phone wobbles when laid on its back. The case looks good, but that's all I had. I felt that with any real fall or bump it would break easily and the stand would definitely snap off. See photos to compare the three cases. and close the details of each.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Hard to tell
