Operating system setup has never been easier than with Raspberry Pi and Retropie 4.0. Canakit works fine, just use one of the heatsinks at the indicated location on the board and assemble the case. No special tools are required. In fact, there's nothing special about it. I downloaded the image for Retropie to the included 32GB micro SD card using a USB dongle, plugged it into the Pi, connected HDMI to my monitor, plugged in the power adapter along with a $10 USB keyboard . , and the system practically did the rest (until I put my own USB drive in the device to format it and install the ROM in the system). And of course you need a gamepad. I have a lot of third party USB controllers, but of course a Dualshock or Xbox 360 controller should also work perfectly. Touch screen kit to maybe use as an e-reader soon!
