I bought this for its two-way diagnostic capabilities. There were problems with tablets: If the batteries were discharged too much, the device would no longer boot because it could not be charged. Didn't want to take a risk with some tablet styles from other brands. Make updates first. It comes with very limited features if you don't. When the box was opened it contained all the parts and cables as described. OBD2 and 12 OBD1 cables. It does not come with Ford OBD1 cables. It's disappointing that this is the only OBD1 cable I really need and that's why I spent extra money on OBD1 cables. My mistake, although I should have checked the cables that came with it. The instruction manual was a little disappointing. Very easy. It does not state what power requirements are placed on an external power supply. (i.e. 12 volt 3 amp center pole + or -). An attempt to update the scanner and the initial download resulted in the correct download and installation of 4 out of 27 files. I've tried twice more - to no avail. Changed cable and tried 1 file each. This seemed to work, but was very slow and inefficient. The download speed from the server sometimes dropped to 3 KB/s for files required for advanced options and others. After making sure it loaded one at a time, I tried to load multiple vehicles at the same time successfully. Went back to the original cable for the last two downloads and it was successful. I was still hesitant to do "refresh all" again as it takes a lot of time when it fails. The total update time took about 3.5 hours. The Acura 2002 RL could only access 3 of the 25 modules shown. PCM, SRS and Transmission. Seemed fairly slow to communicate with the vehicle. All other modules come back but cannot connect to the ECU. No VSA, ABS, TCS, BCM or other modules. Essentially, this is a simple Acura reader with real-time monitoring of common OBD signals. 2004 Ford Expedition 3 of the 8 listed modules (PCM/SRS/ABS) can be used. Not much in advanced production sensor monitoring. There were a few bidirectional options, but very limited compared to how much is actually available. Better than the basic reader, but not all system diagnostics. 1997 Corvette again with minimal bi-directional functionality. some, but minimally extended manufacturer codes. Slightly better than a normal reader. No BCM/SRS/ABS. The 2012 Lincoln MKX contains a lot of information and extended production codes and reads many manufacturer-specific signals. With other cars reading that much information, this would be a good diagnostic tool that deserves high marks. Due to the lack of extended codes on 3 out of 4 Corvette, Expedition and RL vehicles tested, this is far from the only system diagnostic tool and definitely not worth the price paid. The description of the FX2000 doesn't seem to do much more than the FX2000, aside from a couple of bi-directional tests and the manufacturer's minimally upgraded sensors. Email sent to Ansel and still awaiting a reply. You need to update Honda/Acura models and evaluate 2004 Ford and 1997 Chevy programs for correct encoding in order for the unit to read modules like 2012 Lincoln. Many faults are related to the inability to connect to the ECU when using any of the modules other than PCM/SRS/ABS. It doesn't seem to do much better than the FX2000, although I haven't tried any of the FX2000s.
