It came in a separate box as part of a large package with many other items in it and the scent was so strong that everything else in the large box then it smelled. I opened a single air freshener slightly and left it at least six feet away from me in the same room and sniffed it as if it were sitting right next to me. I soon took it to the hallway outside the room, and I can still faintly smell it. Placing the remaining 12 packs in the box did little to dampen the odor, in fact causing everything else in the box to absorb the odor within 10 minutes. Having purchased this type of air freshener before, I was unprepared for this type of smell. the strength of it. It's not exactly an unpleasant scent, but I wouldn't recommend using it in small spaces unless you're willing to be overwhelmed by it.
