This is my first air fryer and I have to say that I like it already, even though I've only made homemade fries so far. I don't buy frozen ones because they've got plenty of fat covering them even if you bake them. I scrub the potatoes with a vegetable brush first because I leave the skin on. That's the most nutritious part of an Idaho or Russet potato, and of course red ones, too. With fresh-cut potatoes, after you've cut them, you soak them in ice water for 20 minutes first, then completely dry them. I did four at once because I wasn't sure how many would work. They filled the basket completely and I had to double the normal time of the setting to get them to the crispness that I prefer. I only sprayed them with a light coat of olive oil, then added spices. You have to make sure you lock in the rotisserie basket or you may be misled to think yours doesn't work. I don't know if doing only two large, fresh potatoes will get you back down to the regular 13 minutes sufficing, but I did try petite red potatoes by cutting them into quarters. I still needed more time for those, too. I don't think leaving the skin on was the cause for needing more time for each type. Those using frozen fries, they're basically semi-cooked to begin with, so the regular setting for fries would probably suffice. I just try to stay away from frozen potatoes and breaded fish and chicken because the latter two are loaded with unnecessary fat due to the oils they've used to precook them to make them ready for heating and browning in the oven. I'll update this after I've tried other foods. Like I said before, though, I can't see someone honestly being disappointed with this one, considering the price for 10.6 qts. and all the different options it has. I plan to try dehydrating next. I'm getting ready to order some accessories for it, so I'll update about those, too, when the time comes.
