Never got it to work. Tried on two different computers with two different cables. I tried plugging it into the USB 2.0 port directly on the motherboard. In all cases I got stuck: ===== usb 3-2: new USB full speed device number 96 using xhci_hcdusb 3-2: read device descriptor/64, error -71usb 3-2: read device descriptor/64 , Error -71usb usb3-port2: tried to power USB 3-2: new full speed USB device number 97 with xhci_hcdusb 3-2: read device descriptor /64, error -71usb 3-2: read device descriptor /64 , Error -71usb 3-2: new USB full speed device number 98 with xhci_hcdusb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71usb 3-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71usb usb3-port2: USB cannot -device=====Save yourself the hassle, spend a few bucks more and get a genuine part.
