Conclusion: This heater has nuances, but keeps them warm. This is better than cold coffee or tea, especially in an air-conditioned office. I have read many other reviews on this topic and about a dozen other reviews. For the price, it does the job of preventing cold coffee/tea. It won't set off fireworks, but it's better than nothing if you follow the precautions and tips below. After a few weeks of use I found the following: 1. This warmer keeps your drink from getting room temperature or ice cold but NOT hot. The liquid will likely be in the 80 degree range. The base can reach 120-130 degrees on average, but it can be higher, it is difficult to control. I love hot coffee but like I said above this one is better than the alternative.2. I suggest flat-bottomed ceramic mugs as the best conductors and the safest. The metal can get too hot and I've found that it no longer conducts heat.3. If your cup is curved at the bottom (not flat) it won't be as effective. Most cups are slightly concave in the middle of the bottom, so a completely flat cup will better dissipate heat from the heating pad.4. DO NOT use plastic, paper or Styrofoam cups. They will fall apart or melt. You CANNOT put SBUX or RoFo cups on it, not on the pitch.5. The bottoms of ANY type of mug and sides get SUPER HOT, so use the handle or risk a burn. The metal is particularly hot. Halfway through I grabbed a metal travel mug and burned my fingers/hands a bit but luckily I didn't pick it up so it was just "wow that's hot" and not a trip to the ER. The less liquid and the smaller the cup, the hotter the drink. I found that my coffee was actually hotter when I dialed in 1/3 or less since there is less to heat. Also, I have a stick or spoon to stir before drinking to disperse the heat throughout the liquid. Uncheck it to turn it off. DO NOT leave it on all day or overnight. Even pressing the power button may not turn it off, or it may turn on easily.8. Place a cloth potholder under the heating pad. It gets very hot and heats up the table underneath or anything underneath. This prevents you from damaging your wooden or plastic table/table etc. I've seen this bubble polish cause brown or bleaching stains on other people's posts. So a potholder will work, but use cotton or melt-resistant fabric. Something made of nylon or polyester can melt. A silicone or heat resistant pad may not reflect heat as well as a potholder because it is thicker.9. Don't leave it on all day. Disable it when you exit.10. Insulating mugs are not suitable, even if they are made of metal. I think it will be very hot outside near the base but there will be no liquid inside because of the space. This works on contact with the base. Hope that helps! :D
