Would not recommend for audiobooks.
I use this to listen to audio books. I'm not thrilled with the device. There is no lock on the controls, so it loses its place if you bump into something. There is no clip that you can attach it, so since it is in my pocket it loses its place when I bend. The controls change function as you go in and out of tracts and lists. If I were listening to music instead of books, it might not be so annoying. For some reason it keeps putting the last track of the book first.
