Review on noxgear Tracer360 - Multicolor Illuminated, Reflective Vest for Running or Cycling (Weatherproof): Stay Safe and Visible During Your Outdoor Activities. by Steven Ferguson

Great product but could use improvement

I bought this vest to wear with LightHound dog harnesses. The price was the same as the seat belts ($59.99), which I felt was a bit high considering the construction feels flimsy. One of the plastic cables transmitting the LED light broke within 6 months, affecting the usability of the product. I like the low profile and lightweight design; However, it is not rechargeable and requires several AAA batteries. That means it can last longer when it's low, but stay red (low battery indicator) for a long time before the batteries are completely drained. This may mean carrying spare batteries if the vest has been in the red for a while. I think it would benefit from a rechargeable battery option. It has multiple lighting options: Rainbow Pulse, Rainbow Strobe, Rainbow Cycle, Solid Pulse, Solid Strobe, and Solid Static. The colors are white, blue, green, purple, pink and red. The vest turns red when the battery is low, so I don't recommend choosing red as the default. The downside is that you have to use the power button to switch between options, which can take a while. The sternum strap is yellow with a reflective stripe and connects to the front with a quick release buckle. The straps are also adjustable with plastic snaps. You may need to adjust the width as the vest moves a little when you run. Shoulder straps are made of plastic, similar to fiber optic cables. They are attached to the body of the LED spotlight at both ends and pass through an elastic chest strap at the front. There are two plastic levers on the front for adjusting the fit. The buttons slip when you move and I had to constantly adjust the seat belts. I'm a woman and I've found that the straps move to one side and the 'straps' get in the way or fall off my shoulder. A male user may not face such problems. Switches also create kinks in plastic cords that cause damage over time. Wearing a harness with a waist pack can also damage the cables. I found that one of the cables broke while walking/running. It broke near where it attaches to the LED body and I can't find a way to reattach it without losing the direction of the LED and therefore optimal lighting. I've used it in light to heavy rain, but based on my experience with the LightHound I'm suspicious of pronouncing it properly waterproof. Although it appears to be relatively water resistant. It definitely contrasts well with a black outfit and makes me feel more confident when I'm on or near the street in low light. I think it would also be good for cyclists as it offers a level of visibility and silhouette definition that turn signals can't. I am attaching a LightHound pendulum video to show how color switching works. It has the same settings as Tracer360. PROS: Light weight Easily adjustable size Compact size Multiple color options High light factor CONS: Non-rechargeable Weak design Price
