Review on Deepcool GAMMAXX 300 CPU cooler, silver/black/blue by Adam Nikodem ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are a few bugs, basically the norm.

I have a haswell refrash i5 without overclocking in idle 45 in the summer. In prime95 it reaches 75 and turns off turbo boost, then it works at 3.3 GHz without throttling. The temperature of the hottest core is 78 at the same time. The first time I smeared a thick layer of paste and on the hottest core was 87. Then I smeared, though already a different, very uncomfortable thick paste, but still managed to make a thinner layer. And dropped 7-8g from the cores. Those. the temperature of the analog sensor became approximately equal to the temperature on the cores. Prime, if anyone did not know, heats no worse than a link, well, +/- a couple of degrees on the cores.

Pros
  • Quiet fan at any speed. The fan is powerful
Cons
  • When assembling the Intel mounts, they can sit a little awry. So it's not obscured to the eye. This is facilitated by the shape of the mounts - curved. As a result, I crushed the capacitor near the socket. I have a b85-g43 board, I would not say that the capacitors are close or high, rather the cooler should be blamed. With a smooth installation of the mount, it will still rest close to the capacitors. The clips are very difficult to remove. It is ok to set, but it is difficult to spread the paste evenly, because the fixing occurs sharply from one of the corners to the very end, and not gradually from all sides. The end tubes are completely excluded from heat exchange. They are just a ballast, only one works - the one in the middle. Since the chip is elongated and narrow, it is better to place the tube along the chip. There is no thermal paste in the kit, and the one that is applied has dried up. Yes, and it was applied with pimples.
