After extensive research I have come to the following conclusion: - Pink and yellow threads tend to be premium. The density (teflon thickness in grams per inch, etc.) is usually higher than regular white teflon tape. Tape with "Premium" threads is 0.0035" to 0.004" thick (very thin! 4 mil). - As already mentioned, white PTFE tapes are usually thinner and therefore cheaper. (0.0015" etc., 1.5 mil) - You generally need fewer turns of thicker tape (3-4 turns vs. 7-8+), it also doesn't break as easily and is easier to work with. Another Thing is, green thread tapes are DIFFERENT - they are designed for oxygen lines - all other thread tapes are the same - 99% PTFE (Teflon) and 1% pigment (paint) You can verify this by looking for product safety data sheets (Also annoying to me that Venom duct tape is also just regular quality, as is the giant roll of blue monster duct tape) So what does it all mean? Well, that pink gas oil tape is great, no question. But I do can get the same (99% PTFE, 1% pigment, 3.5 mil) locally, yellow, at hardware stores for $2.50-$3.00 roll.. And if you look hard you can get huge 3.5 -Find millimeter rolls in pink and yellow. Good luck!
