These lens cases arrived today and I already love them! They offer more protection compared to my Nikon lens cases which are made of soft lined microfiber cloth. The neoprene is 3mm thick, which provides some protection from the elements and ample protection from accidental bumps. The materials and cuts are of good quality. The straps and clips are solid but I would not attach these pockets to the outside of the backpack as they are not secure enough. Although the opening cords are tight, they are not waterproof; no secondary seal for the hole. These are little things. The only point of criticism is that the cords are too loose and have already torn at the ends. I quickly fixed this by heating the ends until they melted. The seams of the neoprene are tight, but the seams are not taped like a wetsuit. They can crack after a few years of heavy use, but neoprene is easily repaired. Overall I find them quite satisfactory for my needs. And here's a description of how these bags fit my lenses - I like the wider sizes because they allow me to enclose a lens hood (upside down). Bag dimensions and example of a suitable lens: 1: 70mm x 80mm: fits standard AF 50mm 2: 85mm x 115mm: fits Tamron AF 17-50 with lens hood 3: 90mm x 160mm: fits Nikkor AF -VR 105 micro4: 90mm x 220mm . Suitable for Nikkor 70-300 AF VR.
