Review on 🎀 Sony ICDUX70RED Digital Voice Recorder: MP3 Stereo Recording and Playback at Its Finest by Rene Carrell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for Lectures Good for Digital Dictaphone

So I needed a Dictaphone that could record a semester's lectures in acceptable quality, store them and transfer them to a Mac. And it fits the bill very well. What I like best: 1. Excellent stereo recording quality even in SP or LP mode (4kbps for SP)2. The file structure is easy to use for class separation and can be manipulated on the computer3. The output is just plain old mp3, not a proprietary format like some other recorders4. Installation doesn't require any special software or drivers - my MacBook treats it like a flash drive5. I really like the VOD option that breaks the silence in the dictaphone while the professor is writing on the board or setting up powerpoint or similar.6. It looks like an MP3 player so most people don't even notice I'm recording a lecture, especially with headphones on. (don't look boring) Cons: Not too many. It ate up its first battery pretty quickly, but I suspect it'll last the 18 hours Sony promised with a branded battery. Plan to take an AAA every week and a half. It took me a while to figure out how to turn it off - flip the lock switch while it's not playing and it turns itself off after a few seconds. otherwise it will remain activated indefinitely. It's worth the premium over others - don't skimp on the recorder or you'll end up with that harsh, tinny sound that's unbearable for long periods of time. Take that from a man who couldn't understand most of last semester's lecture notes and then the exams.
