I clean my bike chains with melted speed wax. I also use Squirt (wax based lube). I recently decided to try NixFrixShun (NFS) lube, but my bike builder warned me to remove all wax from my cassette before using NFS with a new chain (which has also been degreased to remove the factory lube). .First I applied Muc Off. Sure, some dirt and wax came off, but I wasn't impressed at first. Then I sprayed some more and left for a minute. Holy cow! That's magic! With a small brush, I quickly made my cassette shine again and look like new again. And seriously, the cassette looked like it just came out of the box (I know because I installed a new version of the same cassette on a different wheelset right after). Wonderful. (FYI, unlike others I haven't had any issues with the atomizer. Not sure if I was just lucky or they changed the design.) PS For those using waxed chains or wax-based lube, keep those smallest gears in mind (11, 12 and 13). Most of my gears were relatively clean, but there was a lot of wax between those little gears. I was a big fan of wax lube, but it gave me some pause, especially as I've had a persistent chain slip problem with my 11-tooth gear for a while.
