I looked at the stairs and saw spots of 3M adhesive and was skeptical. BUT I didn't have to lift anything on the dash or use glue (I have a rental car so I really didn't want to use glue), I literally put it in the area just above the air vent. It fit like it was part of a machine. It's just the right angle, it's out of my line of sight but I don't have to take my eyes off the road, this is the best and easiest to use phone mount I've ever had in a car!
