If you pull it, it lengthens, but then shrinks back to normal.
Works great, once I found a place to attach my hook to the car it was very easy. Gone are the days of ending up at the end of a chain that nearly destroyed my old car. Even if you have to draw, it's easy! ;) perfect track and pulled the car out when the track returned to normal length.
