INACCURATE DIMENSIONS

I bought these because I thought they were well made and will last me a lifetime. The first recipe I made, I noticed something odd about the consistency of the batter. This is a recipe I make all the time so I started thinking about it. The dough was much tougher than usual; usually a sign of too much flour. So I started getting other measuring cups that I needed to check the accuracy of these new ones. After checking a few old measuring cups, I found that the 1-cup measure is less than 1/8 cup (too much). My recipe called for 4.5 cups of flour (flatten). If the measurement was over 1/8 cup, that means I added 1/2 cup more flour than I should have. No wonder the dough was too chewy. Further testing showed that some measuring cups weren't working (more than they should) and a pair were correctly installed and measuring accurately. The idea behind measuring cups is that you add exactly what the recipe dictates. I've never seen anything like this and I'm old. If you want accurate measurements, keep looking.
