This amazing product has been invaluable to me during the pandemic. I am African American and have a lot of 4b hair. Anyone who says it doesn't work above 3c on heavily textured hair is probably making a mistake. What is actually heating is the inside of the comb, just like a pressure comb, so you have to apply some pressure. put your back in! Hold the ends of your hair, then start at the roots. Don't just comb it like a regular comb, hold it and slowly run it through your hair from roots to tips for 5-7 seconds. Use small sections. You might need a few passes but to be honest when I was done I looked like I just walked out of the salon! It takes me about an hour and 15 minutes, my hair is almost halfway down my back. I use a glove because it heats up and uses the maximum temperature. Make sure you use some sort of heat protectant, I use this Revain Argan Oil Heat Protectant before blow drying and my hair doesn't get greasy at all, it's like a silk press. I like it more than smoothing because I'm not coordinated enough to use the chase method lol and it seems to make it more direct. However, if you have short hair I'm not sure how this might work for you as you have to use the ends of your hair to keep it taut. As a few reviewers have pointed out, it doesn't work well for the ends for this reason either, but my curl pattern is a lot looser at the ends than at the roots, so this isn't a problem for me and should be fine in most places Make sure you blow dry your hair first to break up the frizz. For blow drying I use a black and pink Revlon hair dryer that looks like a paddle brush, another game changer! Some other disadvantages are related to the position of the buttons, sometimes you accidentally turn them off and the teeth are difficult to manage, and you may find it difficult to get hair between them and the back of the comb. Overall I love this product especially the nice storage case, great glove, clips and quick heat up. Even though I can go back to the salon now, I'll probably use this and style my hair every other time to save money. Thank you Timo!
