When I first picked up this desk I was shocked at how heavy it is for its size. It is very well made and of high quality. The frame is made of thick, durable metal with a good powder coat finish. It is very easy and quick to assemble, literally just 6 screws and 4 bolts. The two metal feet adjust up/down in 1" increments and raise the desk top 19" to 31" off the floor, making it suitable for both the youngest and the oldest in the family. It is firmly attached with 4 screws through the metal frame. There is also a handle on the frame that you can use to hang headphones, a backpack, etc. The four lower foot pads under your feet are also screwable at different heights, allowing you to level the table to avoid rocking on uneven floors. The surface of the table is made of a very dense wood material with a laminate on top. This isn't just cheap lightweight chipboard. It's thick and heavy and made to last. The surface of the laminate is very smooth, which is great for writing, coloring, drawing, computer work, etc. It will not easily break, gouge or scratch. With the weight of the table, you don't want to move it often. It's definitely portable and easy to move around, but it's not an easy thing that you want to move or push around every day. Bottom line, this is a fantastic, solid, heavy and well-made table. Which should last for many years of intensive use.
