Review on Corki Out-Front Mount: Garmin Edge & GoPro Combo Mount - Pro Black by Chase Arellano

on the right track, but not perfect.

The way this external mount is delivered will please many of you (I think I'm looking at everyone who doesn't have my configuration right now). I have crossover/inline brake levers that are positioned so that the cables create an area of congestion just around the bottom two handlebar clamp bolts. There is a crease in the bracket where it meets the crease in the clamp, so it appears to be designed to be mounted in the down position. I suspect this is a safer position - if you turn your bike over to change a tire, for example, you're less likely to scratch, bend or break the mount and any devices attached to it. Brake cables, it was not possible to install a bracket and screw a bunch of devices to it. So I took a photo in the position of the top clamp screw. It doesn't work the way it's built because the quarter turn and sleeve bearings are swapped. All I had to do was unscrew the 4 tiny hex nuts holding the Garmin receiver and GoPro receiver using the smallest hex wrench in my bike kit and essentially turn it upside down. This allowed me to mount the bracket to better match the handlebar clamp. I use it for my new Garmin Varia RDU which I use with my Polar m460 stem mount. If something strange happens to my user experience, I will report it. Other than that, know that unless you need to get creative, this is a very simple setup. Even if you like me, it won't add much installation time. One tip is to try and use loose allen wrenches instead of the ones attached to a loop like the ones that come with a tool pouch. Your work will go much faster. So why the low score? I couldn't get my setup to work 100%. Firstly, I didn't get the little black tubes/eyelets pictured - I think they should help keep the screws flush with the threads. It may have helped get a better fit. May be? I suspect this could be the reason, or at least related to my drop bars not staying in place no matter how I tighten the bolts. In fact, it's fine 95% of the time on flat roads. However, there's always a point on one of my drives when I'm driving at considerable speed with my hands on the hood or in racing position and I hit the inevitable bump or lip in the bridge and my steering wheel goes down. Moment when the accident almost happened. If I anticipate the impact, I can move my hands to the top position. no load on the hoods. but I'm not good enough to do it all the time. I hope the company can get back to me with these black sleeves and I hope it helps to get the handlebars on properly. Until then, I'll ride my bike a little more carefully and lower my rating to 1 star. I hope this draws attention.
