This item replaced the mystery brand's previous sleeve bearing which initially looked good but didn't last long. The RAM quick release mount is the most secure phone mount I have ever used. I'd had my big Motorola G7 Power, with its bulky case, strapped to my Jeep's windshield while driving through northern Arizona for more than ten days, and it never budged. I've had many phones popped out of their "locking" mounts in both the truck and jeep due to moderate road bumps that the RAM mount wouldn't even recognize as bumps. You can customize the locking pins to suit your phone and handling needs. This "quick" claim is somewhat dubious, as it often takes two hands to reach for the phone. For everyday riding the RAM mount wouldn't be my first choice as it's huge overkill, but off-road or on the bike it's just as good.
