The tape is very similar to the original tape. It's a bit shorter, has a slightly different texture, and the clasp is a slightly different shape. I had no trouble attaching the strap to the watch and everything looks very secure. Overall, most people probably won't notice a difference. However, if your skin is sensitive to metals like mine, the clasp will most likely cause a rash with a lot of sweat. The clasp on the original Garmin strap didn't do that to my skin. That's why I rated the comfort at 3. I painted the clasp with clear nail polish and it helped noticeably reduce the reaction, but not eliminated them on days of profuse sweating. I expect to have to repaint the clasp from time to time, which is a hassle but not a big deal given the money saved. It's too early to talk about durability.
