This juicer is one of the worst juicers I have ever used. Don't be fooled by statements made during advertising. This juicer is barely capable of grinding the food that is fed into it, let alone efficiently extracting the juice from the pulp. The worst thing is that it is actually dangerous to use. It's bad design. The main disadvantage of this juicer is that the feed tube directs the contents to the center of the chopper, where it spins the slowest. To make matters worse, the teeth in the center of the shredder blade follow the same circular path. This arrangement of teeth does not result in grinding between the knives, but only grinds round grooves in the product. As a result, the product is fed in very slowly or even stops in the grinding tube. This delayed loading action also appears to cause the centrifuge basket to slow down and become clogged. I'm not exactly sure why this is happening, but I suspect it could have something to do with food getting stuck between the bottom edge of the filler neck and the center of the cleaver. Obviously, once the centrifuge basket becomes clogged, less juice will be extracted, the pulp will be wetter, and more juice will end up in the pulp container. The second disadvantage is that the pulp is only discharged into the pulp receiver from one side of the grinding/centrifuging chamber. This causes the slurry to remain in the centrifuge basket and exacerbates the clogging problem. Once the centrifuge basket becomes clogged, the pulp begins to stick to the inside of the grinder/centrifuge chamber and eventually appears to end up in the juice collector. The third downside is that the juice collector has a flat bottom and doesn't drain well. The pulp particles in the juice tend to settle to the bottom of the juice collection tank and can eventually prevent the juice from draining. The juice flows along the inside edge of the juice collector and runs down the motor housing. Wait; it gets worse! Because the motor vents are located on the sides of the motor housing just below the juice collection tank, juice flowing out of the juice collection tank will have a tendency to enter the motor housing through the vent openings, creating a risk of electric shock. Not a disadvantage, but worth noting: if the juice collector is fitted and the chopper blade is screwed onto the drive shaft before the centrifuge basket is fitted, the chopper blade will be very difficult to remove as there is no way to stop the rotation of the drive shaft. The tube is in close proximity to the drain tube and juice glass, small products sometimes fall into the juice glass when juicing. A little about Powerjuicer.com: When you buy direct from Powerjuicer.com, convince yourself to buy accessories. Count on it; Accessories are not worth the money! In addition, the accessory pack can be purchased separately. So if one of the purchases is put on hold, it may not arrive until the money-back guarantee on the other purchase has expired. In any case, you could get stuck on one of the purchases if you decide to return the other. Attention buyers! UPDATE: July 7th, 2011 My opinion on this product is even worse than previously stated. Due to the shortcomings pointed out in my previous review, I only used this Jack Lalane juicer when I needed to quickly juice some foods and my main juicer was busy juicing something else. By my honest estimate I have used this juicer less than 20 times. Yesterday I wanted to make a quick carrot/apple/ginger juice and the juicer died 3/4. It showed no previous signs of expected failure. He just died. At first I thought it might be the thermal switch, although it didn't feel hot. I waited about thirty minutes but the juicer was still dead. So I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt; I cleaned it and let it cool overnight. Well it's still dead. To be honest this is the WORST juicer I've ever owned. What filth! Please do yourself a favor and buy ANY OTHER juicer as this one is an ENTIRE waste of time and money. After all, this rating should NEVER cast a bad light on the seller.
