This thermometer allowed me to check right out of the box that my beautiful smoked chicken had actually reached 165 degrees without opening the grill and letting off all the heat. The display is large, if not perfectly contrasted, and has a somewhat reflective lens that makes it difficult to read in certain conditions. Not critical, but room for improvement. Ideally, you want Wi-Fi or some other wireless interface so you don't have to go outside in the rain, or worse, take your grill inside. But for $18, that's a very good deal. By the way, once you have it, you'll measure your heated coffee (about 132 degrees) and come up with all sorts of reasons to whip it up. The wire is moving away from the SS probe, but so far so good.
