I've been a Saucony girl for 25 years and trying out New Balance for the first time. You could order almost any Saucony shoe in a standard size 9 and it would be comfortable but lately the brand seems to have narrowed down and I don't like that all of their shoes now look weird, super light but not durable foam. My left foot is vulnerable so this is the first time I've tried "stabilizing" shoes since I've recently started walking 6-9 miles a day. I have bursitis, high insteps and narrow heels. These shoes are a bit narrow - with a wide width they fit as I would expect from "normal". It definitely hugs your foot with some sort of internal stretch lining that gives a comfortable feel even in wide areas and doesn't heel slip. If you have wide feet or big bones, I think you definitely need extra wide or a different style. In contrast, I also bought an NB 940V4 to try out, and in standard width it's quite roomy in the forefoot - more than the Rubix V1 in width. The Rubix's outsole is a bit "stiff" in the sense that it makes a clanking noise when walking on hardwood floors compared to other tennis shoes I own. I've tried 9w and 9.5w on Rubix and the 9.5w is noticeably larger in both width and length than some brands where increasing by half makes almost no difference. To keep in mind or not. The purple/grey color is very neutral and beautiful.
