Review on BoxWave TinyMount Windshield Adjustable Smartphones by Chris Pettway

How you use it determines how you like it.

Thank you to the other reviewers for the helpful tips and to BoxWave for sending me a second sticky thing to try for free. In addition, BoxWave was also ready to respond to customer requests to start packaging instructions with TinyMounts. I gave up on having two adhesive discs stuck anywhere in my car and that was the end of my search for a preferred mounting location. If I were willing to screw the drive in (I think the punched tabs were for screws or nails) I could mount it where I really wanted it. The suction cup mount pattern worked great on glass and the mount worked well with my Nokia 822, Windows 8 phone which is quite heavy. You can't go wrong with the price, even with compromises. Where and how you mount it depends a lot on what device you're using. and that's why reviews and ratings vary so much. Here are instructions direct from BoxWave: TinyMount User Guide. Kit Includes: (1) BoxWave TinyMount with Lockable Suction Cup Base. (1) Optional self-adhesive mounting plate. Mounting on glass or other smooth surface: 1. Remove the contents of the TinyMount from the packaging.2. Clean and dry the surface where you want to install TinyMount.3. Remove the protective plastic film from the base of the TinyMount.4 suction cup. While holding the bottom of the suction cup with one hand and the mount with the other hand, gently push the TinyMount apart until the two halves are at a 90 degree angle.5. Firmly but gently press the base against the mounting surface until a seal is formed. The TinyMount should stay in place if the seal is good. (Tip: You can slightly wet the surface of the suction cup for a better fit.) 6. You will see a locked icon and an unlocked icon on the base. Tightly but gently turn the base clockwise from the unlocked to the locked position, approximately 1/6 turn. At this point, TinyMount should be successfully mounted and locked. Pull back the spring-loaded soft clip and insert the device.8. Rotate, swivel and otherwise adjust the mount until the desired viewing angle is achieved. For mounting on a non-smooth surface, e.g. B. the dashboard of a car, with the supplied mounting plate: 1. Remove the contents of the TinyMount from the packaging.2. Clean and dry the surface where you want to install TinyMount.3. Remove the plastic backing from the included self-adhesive mounting plate.4. Press firmly but gently on all edges and the center of the mounting plate until the adhesive adheres evenly to the surface. Wait about 1 minute before proceeding.5. Remove the protective plastic film from the base of the TinyMount.6. Holding one hand on the base of the suction cup and the other on the mount, gently push the TinyMount apart until the two halves are at a 90 degree angle.7. Firmly but gently press the base against the mounting plate until a seal is formed. The TinyMount should stay in place if the seal is good. (Tip: You can slightly wet the surface of the suction cup for a better fit.) 8. You will see a locked icon and an unlocked icon on the base. Tightly but gently turn the base clockwise from the unlocked to the locked position, approximately 1/6 turn. At this point, TinyMount should be successfully mounted and locked.9. Pull back the spring-loaded soft clip and insert the device.10. Rotate, swivel and otherwise adjust the mount until the desired viewing angle is achieved. To connect a phone/other device1. Hold the two sides of the clamp, the tabs with the soft pads on them, in different hands. Gently pull them in different directions and you will see one side slip out. Hold the clip open and place the device between the two tabs on the clip. Make sure it is centered.3. Release the spring-loaded clip and they gently retract to hold the device securely in place.
