I have an old table that I use for games. There are stacks of expensive cards and trinkets on the table and several dangerous drinks that can destroy those expensive cards and trinkets. With 125 coasters, I can keep drinks in one place and separate them from gaming paraphernalia. If the stand is damaged or worn out, I can throw it away and replace it.
