As you would expect from a device with such small optics, it works best in brighter light - it doesn't compromise accuracy - just basic target acquisition. The eye must also be positioned in this way - this takes some practice and the glasses must be removed. This is true for all rangefinders I've used except for the high-end spotting scopes, but they won't fit in your pocket. The display is easy to read and includes a tilt indicator - distance and tilt level (+ and -). It registers on almost any object. I've tried ski gates, football, flags and more. You need line of sight, and you can't shoot through a window or mess. It's accurate and easy to aim. The only difficulty I had was holding the device steady while pressing the power button. It takes some effort to press the button, and I kept moving my hand. The farther you are from the target, the greater the relative movement - sometimes it took a few tries to get a measurement due to the movement when the button was pressed. Using two hands helped. Also included: carrying case with magnetic closure, strap, battery (lithium CR2.)
