Have been riding it for 2 months now. Not the best mirrors on the market. But with that said. I wouldn't say they're useless because I can see if the car is right behind me or if I've left my buddies far behind because I can see the headlights. As for knowing if you're being trolled by a cop or a random person, no, you can't tell because there's a possibility of vibrating heavily. But if you need mirrors to keep the fools from leaving you alone, you'll like them because they're cheap, and if they break you'll be broke. The only thing I've noticed is that they come loose very easily if you frequently adjust them to get the bike in and out of the shed or if your bike pannier carries them around. So check back often. Also, be careful not to overtighten the screws, just be careful as they break off very easily.
