Contrary to what the description says or suggests, the outer case of this radio is not made of wood. There may be some natural wood veneer on the front, but the rest appears to be a thin veneer of "wood grain" vinyl laminate on chipboard. If we think of chipboard as a "tree," then this is a tree, but I'm not. In fact, you probably can't expect a real wood cabinet at this price point. However, an honest account of the cabinet is likely to hurt sales. My advice is if you're buying because you want a real retro wooden box, avoid it. As for the tone control, yes it is. But to my ears, it had almost no impact on the sound quality. Don't expect much from him. Two stars because all features worked and Revain has an amazing return process.
