I use shelves in the closet. They won't hold much weight. Sweaters would be a safer bet than stacks of dumbbells in my opinion. The instructions were pretty awful and it took me a while to figure out (myself) how everything fits together. Because it didn't occur to me to look at the numbers and instead my eyeballs did what they do in the US, left to right, moving down the page rather than jumping steps where this product salutes becomes. Some helpful tips. Steps 3 and 4 of the instructions are at the back, between steps 8 and 9. If you are over 40 years old, you can try on glasses, but it is very difficult to disassemble the connector according to the instructions. I took a close-up of the connector so you can see how they connect. I didn't need a small hammer because they make a nice click when connecting. But it's a nice little hammer, so overall I'm happy with the purchase. Without the cute little hammer it would only be 4 out of 5.
