I really should have listened to Cook Country and used their recommended oven thermometer. Instead, I went with all the rave reviews and bought this DESPITE the warning bells. Anyway, this thermometer appears to be accurate, but after using it once on a grill the whole thing became rusty and had to be coated with oven cleaner to clean it. It's not really the fault of the thermometers, but it was a pain to clean. There's a plate on the underside that should keep the thing upright on a flat surface. Eh, no. It will never stay upright unless it is standing on a PERFECTLY flat surface and will never be bumped or pushed around. It has to be in the oven that people actually use, right? So we tried hanging it on a hanger hoping it would stay visible. no Again, each time it was hit, it would fall off the shelf and fall face down onto the floor of a very hot oven.
