grab it - you won't regret it! Our Beagle ran loose (sometimes and mostly when we were away) due to a broken loop in our underground dog fence. Within two hours of receiving this kit, I found three (3!) tears and repaired them all using a waterproof splice kit purchased at the same time. It would take, well, I don't know how long if, instead of this locator, I tried to find breaks by digging up the wire. Requires two 9 volt batteries, not included. Install them, disconnect the wire from the fence controller, connect the transmitter to one of the two wires going to the wire and turn it on. Go around the loop by hanging the antenna on the receiver off the ground and swinging it back and forth. There is a clear and easy to hear sound when the antenna is on both sides of the cable; The sound disappears when it is directly over the wire. When you reach the break, the audio fades and then disappears. Repeat with the transmitter connected to the other loop wire and go through the loop in the other direction. If there is only one pause, follow the signal to the pause already found. If you haven't gotten that far, then you've found the second breakthrough. I made a temporary fix (twisting the broken ends together) when I found the second break and continued in the same direction to find the third break. again a provisional and I kept walking until I finally came back to the first break. There was a temporary repair here and the loop was continuous (the loop indicator showed a full loop on my fence controller when I reconnected the loop wires). I then made a real repair using waterproof splicing kits and the fence was fully functional again - much to our dog's chagrin. Like I said, buy this product!
